What does SAF+ International Group do?
SAF+ is a developer of eSAF projects. It has a pilot plant in Montreal East and is currently doing advanced engineering studies and securing financing for projects in France and Quebec. Its technology creates synthetic jet fuel using point captured carbon and green hydrogen produced from renewable energy as feedstocks. This process can be thought of as recycling CO2 or a way to power airplanes with electricity without changing current engine and airframe technology.
Why did SAF+ join SASHA?
The SASHA Coalition plays an important role in educating and influencing policy about the essential role that green hydrogen and captured carbon dioxide play in decarbonising aviation. SAF+ joined the coalition to share our aviation and SAF knowledge and to contribute to SASHA’s advocacy efforts. If e-fuels are to become a reality, it will take the support of groups such as SASHA. Finally, SASHA is an effective organisation with enthusiastic staff that are fun to work with.
What impact does SAF+’s work have?
SAF+’s eSAF reduces the lifecycle carbon footprint of jet fuel by over 90%, enabling the industry to grow sustainably and ensure that future generations will benefit from the joy of air travel. Since eSAF burns cleaner, it also improves local air quality and reduces the quantity of contrails, which have a multiplicative effect on global warming. The creation of an eSAF industry will create well-paying jobs in the new green economy and make Europe a leader in e-fuel technology. It will also help wean the aviation industry from their reliance on highly polluting fossil fuels.
